Who I am

The first thing you need to know about me is that I value my privacy, both online and offline. Lucky for me, I have a very common name so I don’t mind introducing myself. Feel free to waste time Googling it !

My name is Jean Roch. I’m a Frenchman living in Paris but, in the immortal words of DJ Khaled, “I global”.

My education is in electrical engineering (for which I hold both French and British degrees) and at the time of writing I make my living as an electronics and real-time embedded systems expert.

I work for several very large companies, many of which you’ve heard of, where I get to meet many interesting people and contribute to the design of very nice products, many of which you’re also heard of or even used. The specifics are not (yet) for public consumption although if you have a serious job offer in the field of contour crafting I will happily send you a resume.

My work often involves mechatronics and motion control but for the most part everything you’re going to see on this blog is the result of spare evenings and week-ends. All of it is self-funded.

I do claim copyright and I have applied for patents on some of my projects but I’m not in denial as to how the internet works : there is nothing on this blog that I will cry over if you “steal”. Anything I want to keep to myself, rest assured, will never make it onto a computer with an internet connection.

In fact if you really feel the urge to copy anything I’m doing, please get in touch first : I’m all about collaboration and connecting with my fellow human beings, and I make friends easily. I want to know what you have in mind, because if you’ve found inspiration here maybe you can inspire me back. Which I’d consider fair trade. And who knows what we might accomplish if we join forces.

That’s it for tonight, I still have some G-code to refine before I hit the sack. Come back to this page from time to time, though, as I will likely share more about who I am. Starting with my hobbies and interests beyond CNC.

Jean
